[Italy - Puglia]: Poglinano a Mare

Spectacular coastal town located 40min drive South of Bari on the top of hills, Poglinano a Mare is a great first stop for any trips in the Puglia region. We arrived in Poglinano around 4PM and had a great evening in the coastal town. We stayed at 'Dimora Anderi' (Vico Gelso Primo 11/13) - see on booking.com, which was a great location and a very charming room with private bathroom. It is one of these Italian towns where you need to park your car outside the old town due to the restrictions. We left our car at Parking Riscio Polignano and got a transfer organised by our hotel/B&B. As soon as you reach Porta Vecchia (entrance gate to the old town), you will start to feel the vibes of Poglinano. Poglinano is hosting every year some cliff jumping competition. Once you are there, you will easily understand why!

What to do in Polignano?

- Walk around the old town and all the little tiny streets and take great pictures of the cliffs ( a few nice panoramic views)

- Go to Lama Monachile: very cute and spectacular shingle beach but it can be extremely busy so come early or during an off peak period

- Visit Cala Portalga beach: beautiful rocky public beach

How long shall I stay in Polignano?

One day including an evening or even half a day and an evening is enough

Restaurants' recommendations: our hosts gave us a few recommendations:

- Osteria del Mulini: traditional osteria to eat Italian pasta and typical cold cuts. We went to this one in the evening

- Ristorante Antiche Mura (Via Roma, 11): beautiful place to eat fish dishes

- Piga tavern: Polignano typical local cuisine (meat, etc.)
