[Crete] Day 4 Falasarna

Updated: Aug 22, 2021

We spent the day in Falasarna, 15-20min/16km drive West of Kissamos. Falasarna does not have any center as such but only a few spread hotels and restaurants. When arriving to Falasarna, do not hesitate to stop along the road on the top of the hill to take a few snaps, the view is just amazing! People go to Falasarna for its stunning long sandy beach with pink-cream touches and you will not be disappointed! There, you can either rent a unit (always comes with two beds or sun loungers + one umbrella) or set up on your own. The price (per day) for renting a set will depend on the row you pick (e.g. 30 euros for the first row; 25 euros for the second row, or 20 euros then; 15 euros for a set of “Poufs”). We found this price quite pricey versus other beaches we went to later on during our holidays. Because we were not there for the full day, we decided to set up our own towels and much closer to the sea. In this beach, there is a wide available band (maybe15-20 meters) between the first row of beds and the sea. There, you can also rent a jetski (40 euros for 15mins), a canoe (25-30 euros for two people for two areas), pay for tubing/banana boat rides or take some windsurfing lessons. There are also two eateries on the beach for snacks or lunch. Our trip was end of June/early July so it was not very busy but I would imagine it could get extremely busy during summer so probably best to come early morning or later in the day.

Back to Kissamos...

In the evening, after taking an “apero” at Babel Café to watch the England victory over Germany, we had dinner at Fish Tavern 1960, located on the central water front. They serve some fresh fish and other local dishes and you can enjoy the sunset.
